MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)
A GENTLE APPROACH TO PAIN, INJURIES & MOBILITY ISSUES
WHAT IS FASCIA?
If you've come along to my classes you might have heard me speak about the fascia and you might have explored yours by using massage balls during a yoga class.
Fascia is a strong connective tissue than runs like a 3D web throughout our entire body, from head to toe. Fascia surrounds blood and lymph vessels, infuses bones, gives structure to the organs, and protects every other tissue in the body. In healthy patients fascia is relaxed, providing a cushioning, supportive mechanism, allowing us to move safely without restriction or pain. Fascia is made up of collagen, elastin and ground substance (the non-cellular constituents of extracellular matrix).
The importance of fascia has been ignored in the scientific community for years, as fascial restrictions not shown on CAT scans, MRI or X-rays. Also for years scientists have worked on dead bodies and removed the fascia to look at muscles, bones, organs etc and have literally ignored the fascia.

MY CLINIC
Many patients seek myofascial treatment after losing flexibility or function following an injury or have experienced ongoing back, shoulder and/or hip pain. I see a wide range of clients, those with soft tissue pain patterns such as fibromyalgia and Lyme Disease, to people recovering from injuries, and pain that have been unresolved for some years.
WHAT MAKES MY CLINIC DIFFERENT
As a homeopath I can help further in the healing process of injuries, pain and mobility issues., as well as any emotional support that could be needed, for example anxiety, grief or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Remedies can support you between appointments.
WHAT CAN MYOFASCIA RELEASE (MFR) TREAT?
The examples above are not a complete list but offer an idea of what can be treated with MFR.
WORK WITH ME
Myofascial Release offers a holistic, whole-person approach to health and well-being. This means finding the root cause of your pain, stress.
I will also offer home practices, which includes yoga poses, therapeutic ball techniques and homeopathic remedies between sessions to further assist your treatments.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST TREATMENT
I will begin the session by taking a detailed case history , this includes questions about your health and medical history and what has brought you to seek treatment. Please bring a list of any medication you are on with you and inform me of any surgeries and injuries you have had. You might be asked to change down to your underwear for a postural examination. Please wear shorts or a vest top if you would prefer.
We will discuss any findings and we will agree an approach to treatment. The number of session will vary depending on the individual. I usually recommend between 2-6 treatments to make a positive change.
I will also offer home practices, which may include yoga poses, therapeutic ball techniques and homeopathic remedies, which will help to further assist your treatments.

I have struggled with chronic knee issues including arthritis for many years, following ruptures and subsequent operations on my cruciate and collateral ligaments.About 4 months ago I was really suffering from knee pain, I was limping very badly; the pain was severely restricting my mobility and ability to sleep.
Nicki did 3 treatments on my knee. I didn't know anything about MFR, but during the 1st treatment I could feel lots of tingling in my knee. There was definitely something happening in the treatment. Nicki was also very gentle, caring and conscientious and asked me to describe what I was feeling throughout the treatment. The following day after the first treatment my knee was significantly less painful and less inflamed. It got progressively got less painful over the following days. Nicki also made suggestions as to how I could manage my knee to improved my sleep which was a very welcome relief. She also gave me some homeopathic remedies. to help. Four months on, and despite returning to using pretty heavy weights at the gym, I have had no problems with my knee and it is feeling really good. I can wholeheartly recommend MFR treatments with Nicki and I would urge anyone who needs body work to seek her out. Thank you Nicki for making a difference to my life.

What a find - Nicki and Myofascial Release! After years of pain in my back, hips and legs to varying degrees and having tried so many techniques to find relief, Nicki has worked magic. Her knowledge of the body and it's workings, her ability to listen and then feel her way through to releasing the issues is outstanding. She does it in such a warm and calm way making me feel completely relaxed, not just on completion of a session but for several days after. I have no hesitation in telling everyone about the miracle that is Nicki"
