Nurture, Restore & Renew
Experience the healing balm of Restorative Yoga. Release tension and experience deep peace.
We are surrounded by a high stimulus, fast pace way of life. Our work-life often demands ever increasing productivity. Submersed in the ‘age of information’ our senses are often flooded, and most definitely bombarded with information. It has become second-nature to respond to stimulus at fast and almost automated manner. Stress inhibits the body’s natural healing abilities and tightens the body unevenly, resulting in physical imbalances. If we find it challenging to ‘switch-off’ from this way of being, our (sympathetic) nervous system to be on overdrive and we generate feelings of overwhelm. The body perceives this 'over-stimulation' or 'stress' response as being on heightened state of alert ('fight / flight' or 'fight / freeze' response). The fight flight or fight freeze response is governed by the sympathetic nervous system. We can help to move away away from the being in a heightened state of alert by switching on the parasympathetic nervous system by using restorative yoga and mindful breathing.
Restorative Yoga is a revolutionary tool
Restorative Yoga is a revolutionary tool. It helps to create the ideal conditions to relieve tension and stress and invite deep relaxation, stillness and peace. Deep relaxation nurtures and vitalises the body and guides the body to restore and renew.
Restorative Yoga uses yoga props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks to create a supportive experience for deep relaxation. The props are used in each pose to honour an individual body, so everyone can experience comfort and relaxation. The props provide support to allow the body to stay in a pose and help to cultivate presence in the pose for longer than active poses. Holding a pose with ease for longer periods allows a gentle unwinding to unfold, releasing tension from the body and helps the mind to become more still.
The Art of Letting Go
Restorative Yoga is most certainly the art of relaxation. Experience the inward journey of letting go, of moving from stress to bliss…
Restorative Yoga & Chronic Illness & Pain
Restorative Yoga a wonderful practice for anyone experiencing Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue/ME, or recovering from illness. Restorative Yoga can help those who experience chronic pain. A regular practice that is mindful ad supported, encouraging deep, focused and relaxed breathing patterns are fantastic antidotes for pain relief. Pain has a very psychological component and is hard 'wired ' into the brain with fear, which serves as a protective mechanism.
Restorative Yoga & Balance
Restorative Yoga is also a wonderful complementary practice to an active or Yang based practice and helps to provide balance in our busy lives.

“Some poses have an overall benefit. Others target an individual part, such as the lungs or heart. All create specific physiological responses which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related disease”.
